The following documents are edited versions of the design documentation for my story chapters in Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire. For this expansion, we tried to hold ourselves to the highest standards with our documentation, which included keeping them up to date as the missions were developed. The green text in the "Mission Structure" section is what ended up being the text/callouts for the actual quest steps in the game, which was immensely helpful to our QA experts. Sensitive information and links to other confidential documentation have been removed.
Unlike Path of Fire, we were not quite so thorough with our documentation on Heart of Thorns, and you can see the difference in the level of detail. These documents are provided as is - to contrast the quality and thoroughness of the second expansion in comparison to the first, but also to show some of the original story moments, many of which dramatically changed or shifted from the initial design. I'm providing these here more for historical and educational value, not because I believe them to be to good examples of how to document narrative design.
